Community support scheme is now open for applications

A community support scheme which gives charities, voluntary groups and not-for-profit organisations across Cheshire East and Chester the chance to win grants of £500 is now open.

Equilibrium Asset Management has run the scheme since 2015 and awarded almost £10,000 in funds to community groups to date.

The scheme serves to support organisations in the community which help disadvantaged people, promote sport and the arts, support education and development and benefit the environment in Knutsford, Wilmslow and Macclesfield in Cheshire East, as well as in Chester, the Wirral and North Wales.

Winners in round one of the 2017 community support scheme, which ran between January and April, included Macclesfield Seals Disabled Swimming Club, Handmade for Dementia, The Joshua Tree Charity and DIAL West Cheshire.

Macclesfield Seals Disabled Swimming Club is a local swimming club founded in 1957 for children and adults with any disabilities.

The Joshua Tree Charity supports families across the North West living with the life-changing experience of childhood cancer and DIAL West Cheshire’s vision is a society where disabled people and older people can participate equally as full citizens, were also winners.

Wilmslow headquartered Equilibrium Asset Management, which also has an office in Chester, said applications to the second round of this year’s scheme can be submitted up until September 17.

Applicants from Knutsford, Wilmslow and Macclesfield can visit http://eqllp.co.uk/the-foundation/cheshire-east-community-support-scheme/

While applicants from Chester, the Wirral and North Wales can visit http://eqllp.co.uk/the-foundation/chester-and-district-community-support-scheme/

Colin Lawson, Founder and Partner of Equilibrium Asset Management, said:

We consider ourselves very fortunate to be in a position to run a Community Support Scheme that offers funding which many organisations need to continue the excellent work that they do.

“With a number of different grants available, we hope charities, voluntary groups and not-for-profit organisations across Cheshire East and Chester will submit applications as it’s a good chance to win funding which can be used to benefit the communities they serve.

The community support scheme is one of a number of initiatives the financial planning expert runs as part of its charitable foundation, which aims to raise £250,000 for local charities by 2020.

Applications are reviewed quarterly, with grants awarded ranging from £100 to £500. The scheme only considers applications from groups whose work benefits the local community.

Projects that promote party political activities or religious causes, projects that benefit or involve animals and commercial enterprises are not accepted.
