The Care Conundrum
Here, we will take you through the different stages of care and share real-life client stories so you can see how this works in practice.
Since 2015, The Equilibrium Foundation has been supporting organisations that make the local area a better place through our Community Support Scheme. Twice a year, charitable organisations operating in North West England have the opportunity to apply for a grant of up to £500.
We are delighted to announce that the winners for this autumn are:
Contact Hostel provides a safe place to stay for young women in the heart of South Manchester. They also help these women with the next stage whether that’s returning to education, starting a job or exploring training opportunities.
“As a small charity, we really do rely on the generosity of businesses such as Equilibrium to help us continue providing a safe and secure home for homeless teenage girls. Thank you!” – Helen Gazard, Fundraising & Income Partner
Just-Ice Poynton is a social enterprise creating employment for survivors of human trafficking, restoring their dignity and giving them hope and a future.
“The funds will make a big difference to the survivors of modern slavery & human trafficking who are part of the employability scheme (which we run in our ice cream cafe) as they rebuild their lives after exploitation.” – Jo Rodman, Chair of Trustees
Tom’s Trust is the UK’s only charity dedicated to providing mental health support to children with brain tumours, and their families.
“Thank you for supporting Tom’s Trust again by donating £500 towards the work that we do at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. We are currently supporting 43 children with brain tumours plus their families by providing mental health, clinical psychology support.” – Sarah Hampton, Regional Fundraiser & Community Development Officer
Blackburn Goalball Club holds regular training sessions for those who are visually impaired to play the only sport that’s been designed specifically for the blind.
“We would like to give a massive thank you to Equilibrium for their very generous grant. We are a small club and this money will help us to deliver accessible sports to the blind, getting them out of isolation and into activity.” – Mohammed Salim Patel, Founder
Based in Manchester, Boaz Trust supports people who have become homeless after claiming asylum.
“This funding will enable people seeking safety from conflict, persecution and violence in their home countries, as well as homelessness and destitution in the UK, to benefit from wellbeing activities, courses, workshops and cultural orientation visits. It will help cover the cost of travel, refreshments and admission tickets for a range of activities which are so important in encouraging a sense of safety and belonging, enhancing cultural understanding and English language skills, helping our beneficiaries to recover from trauma and work towards positive integration in our local communities.”- Heather Woodward, Fundraising Officer
