The Lighted Stage Music Events successfully applied for Equilibrium’s Community Support Scheme, and runs small music events aimed at promoting live, original music in galleries, churches and community spaces.
Elaine Walker, founder of the initiative, said: “The grant will mean I can safely plan at least two more events, probably three, which gives us time to explore ways we can carry on in the new year.
“This has come at exactly the right time, as we’ve had such a good response to previous events that I’ve been asked to run another two before Christmas.
“Before Equilibrium donated this grant, I wasn’t sure how I’d cover the costs – but now I can safely commit to going ahead.”
The Lighted Stage wants to show that original music is valued and that musicians are taken seriously. It also aims to bring live music into places where it wouldn’t otherwise happen, building a music and culture community within the wider locality.
Elaine hopes that eventually the events will become self-sustaining, as audiences begin to build and loyal fan bases start to form.
Equilibrium’s Community Support Scheme was set up in 2015 to award grants ranging from £100 to £500 to community organisations and charities in Cheshire East, Greater Manchester and Chester and District. To date, the company has awarded over £21,000 in funds to community groups.
Applications from Chester and District can visit here.
We are thrilled to announce that Equilibrium has once again been honoured with the prestigious Investors in Customers (IIC) Gold accreditation.
